...to make the Archive's standard derived ogv a larger viewing size format at some point?
The reason i ask is because the ogv sound quality is excellent (often sounding better than the mp4 512kb) and it would be cool to have a larger oggvideo size, as this format probably will continue to grow in popularity...

Why don't you upload your videos in the OGV format? You could make them as high quality as quality you want.

hi jonc, good idea but i can't because my editors don't export ogv; i was wondering if the Archive could increase their ogv size upon auto-rendering...so they'd be more like the 512kb mp4 in appearance-----don't know how the archive's ogv's look in IExplorer but in Firefox they are
rly tiny

OGG freaks me out, for instance I use Wavosaur and it says you need to put the OGG driver in a folder to decode OGG audio files. I did it and it did nothing. Reaper on the other hand plays OGG files fine and even MiniHost plays them with SFZ (a soundfont player on steroids).

I was looking into the OGG video format because I downloaded some vids on here (no idea what or where I put oit of course). The ogg file was the highest quality but I never got a chance to convert to AVI or another usable format.

Anyone about fed up with all the different proprietary codecs and file formats for audio, video, and 2D and 3D objects?

Trying to use open source and freeware when possible and I find myself spending way too much time converting different files to other formats when I should be making ridiculous audio/visual statements to offend people.

I wish they'd standardize it, but everyone seems to have their own favorite format and won't use anything else. I've never had trouble with OGG, and being open there's little chance of it slipping into obsolescence. Unfortunately it's never caught on.

Linux Mint is similar to Ubuntu, but a bit more user-friendly, IMHO. But they've yet to come up with a really good video editor, except maybe Open Shot.

I don't work with Saducimus, just enjoy watching his vids and commenting a time or two, and I do know some of those off-the-wall movies and clips he works with. Mostly I'm a fan of 1950s and 60s sci-fi, also some film noir and griundhoiuse or exploitations movies, but most any old films produced on a shoestring usually capture my interest. :)

No complaints from me, heh heh!

I gotta say that happy gnu year video you made of the singing lady with your subtitles was hilarious. I just left a review. I laughed so hard the first time I saw it, I almost woke up the missus.

Well I for one wish that the world would just ignore whatever format that will come after blueray. I dont want to have to restart my collection over. Again!

I intend to never purchase a bluray player or widescreen TV, they're so unnecessary. I'm content with my 4:3 tube TV and standard DVDs.
